Boris Sandler

Boris Sandler (b. 1950) is a prolific and award-winning figure in the contemporary Yiddish arts world, working across genres as a prose writer, poet, journalist, playwright, musician, and filmmaker. Born in Balti, USSR (Moldova today), he lived in Israel before settling in New York....

He is perhaps best known as the editor-in-chief of the New York-based Yiddish newspaper Forverts, a position he held for eighteen years before stepping down in 2016. A recipient of the prestigious Fichman Prize (2002), his most recent novel Keinemsdorf (Nomansland, AZ) was published by Forward Association Press in 2012. Author photo by Arthur Roxengurt.
