Candan Baysan

Candan Baysan was born in 1945 in İzmit (Turkey). He graduated from Middle East Technical University as a statistician in 1967 and taught there for seven years....

He did graduate work in Baltimore and New York City, in the USA for seven years; upon returning to Turkey, he participated in the establishment of the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRTCIC), where he served as the Head of the Department of Information. He was a member of the Labour Party of Turkey and sat at its Central Board of Research until 1978, when he was expelled.

He has published academic and political articles in the periodicals Yürüyüş, Sosyalist İktidar, Toplumsal Kurtuluş, and Cooperation and in contributed volumes including Yeni Bir Belediyeciliğe Doğru (Towards a new mayoralty), Yalçın Küçük'e Armağan (For Yalçın Küçük), and several titles produced by SESRTCIC. His translations into Turkish of Love Codes by E. J.Kahn and D. A. Rudnitsky, Hawksmoor by Peter Ackroyd, and Peter Pan in Scarlet by Geraldine McCaughrean and Scott M. Fischer were published in 1991, 2006 and 2007, respectively.
