Chiara Marchelli lives in New York and has taught Italian at New York University since 2004. In 2003, she published her first novel, Angeli e cani (Marsilio), which was awarded the Premio Rapallo Carige Opera Prima; in 2007, her short story collection Sotto i tuoi occhi (Fazi) came out....

Her subsequent novels include L’amore involontario (2014), shortlisted for the Premio Internazionale delle Lettrici di Elle international literary prize, and Le mie parole per te (2015) (Piemme Open). Her novel Le notti blu was longlisted for the 2017 Premio Strega, Italy’s most presigious literary award, and is to be translated into German. She is also the athor of the nonfiction book New York, una città di corsa (Giulio Perrone Editore) and La memoria della cenere (NN Editore, January 2019).
