David Jaomanoro

David Jaomanoro (1953–2014) was a master poet, playwright, and fiction writer. Following studies in France, he taught literature at the University of Antsiranana before moving to Mayotte, where he held many artistic positions, including president of a dance theater company and director of the national youth literature center. His work has been widely published in France and awarded several prizes, including the Grand Prize of the RFI-ACCT in 1993. Two of his short stories and several of his poems were translated into English for the anthology Voices from Madagascar.
