David Short

David Short teaches Czech and Slovak at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, University College London. He has written widely on Czech language and literature and his translations include both academic and literary works, among the latter works by Jaroslav Ha…ek, Franti…ek Gellner, Jaroslav Seifert, Vítězslav Nezval and Bohumil Hrabal. He is the author of Teach Yourself Czech (1993 and 2003), Customs and Etiquette in the Czech Republic (1996), Essays in Czech and Slovak Language and Literature (1996), and editor of Bohumil Hrabal (1914-97): Papers from a Symposium (2004).
