Douglas Pérez

Douglas Pérez is a Cuban contemporary artist born in 1972 in Cienfuegos. His paintings tackle complex matters in local history, society, and culture. His painting “Pictopía III: Still I Have a Dream,” included in the May 2016 issue of Words without Borders, was a part of the Bronx Museum of the Art’s 2015 Cuba Libre exhibition....

His work has been exhibited at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Cuba, the METIS-NL in Amsterdam, the Breese Little in London, the National Gallery of Johannesburg, the CaixaCultural in Rio De Janeiro, the Mattress Factory Museum in Pittsburgh, the Queens Museum of Art and the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York, and at many other international museums and galleries. Pérez graduated from the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in 1996 and is currently the school's Professor of Painting.
