Jessica Schiefauer lives in Gothenburg, Sweden, with her husband and son. Her first novel, If You Were Me (2009), was warmly received, and with the August Prize-winner The Boys (2011) she established herself as a prominent literary young adult author....

 The Boys was also nominated for the Nordic Council’s debut Children’s Award, and was translated into several languages. The Boys has been adapted for the theater twice (2014 and 2017) and the film based on the book, Girls Lost, has been a huge festival and award success. With her third book, The Eyes of The Lake (2015; also winner of the August Prize), cemented her position as a unique voice in Sweden. She has also written a number of short stories, among them “Pose,” which appeared in the short story collection HOT, “The Glasshouse” (included in the paperback edition of The Boys), and “VOMB,” published in the science fiction collection Other ways—ten new utopias (2015). Schiefauer writes for young adults and adults, and her writing is focused around questions of self-esteem, maturity, sexuality, and gender. She has a teaching degree in Swedish, English, and creative writing. Photo credit: Ola Kjelbye
