Juan Carlos Chirinos

Juan Carlos Chirinos (Valera, Venezuela, 1967) is author of the novel El niño malo cuenta hasta cien y se retira (2010), and two award-winning short story collections, Leerse los gatos (1997) and Homero haciendo zapping (2003).  His stories have appeared in literary anthologies in Venezuela, Spain, France, the United States, Algeria, and Cuba....

  He has also written the biographies Francisco de Miranda, el nómada sentimental (2006), Albert Einstein, cartas probables para Hann (2004), Alejandro Magno, el vivo anhelo de conocer (2004), and La reina de los cuatro nombres. Olimpia madre de Alejandro (2005).  He studied literature at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Caracas and at the Universidad de Salamanca in Spain. He currently lives in Madrid, where he teaches fiction writing and is one of the editors of the online literary magazine La Mancha.
