Juan Villoro (b. 1956) has been Professor of Literature at Mexico’s National University, and Visiting Professor at Yale, Princeton, and the Pompeu Fabra University at Barcelona. He has received the Herralde Prize for his novel El testigo (The Witness), the King of Spain Prize for journalism, and the Antonin Artaud Prize for his short stories collection Los culpables (The guilty ones), among many others. His theater play Filosofía de vida (Life’s Philosophy) is now playing in Buenos Aires, where it has become a long run hit. His novel for juvenile readers El libro salvage (The Savage Book) sold more than two million copies in Spanish and has been translated to French, Italian, and Portuguese. He is a weekly columnist for the Mexican newspaper Reforma.
