María Sonia Cristoff

Maria Sonia Cristoff (Trelew, Patagonia, 1965) teaches Creative Writing at the Escuela de Escritores branch of the University of Buenos Aires. Her literary works and criticism have been published in newspapers such as La Nación, Clarín, Página 12, Perfil, Le Monde Diplomatique and Neue Zürcher Zeitung....

Cristoff is the editor of three story and essay collections: Patagonia (2005), Idea crónica [Chronical Idea, 2006] and Pasaje a Oriente [Passage to the Orient, 2009]; and the author of Falsa Cama [False Calm, 2005], Desubicados [Misfits, novella, 2006] and Bajo influencia [Under the Influence, novel, 2010] –the first two published in Germany by Berenberg Verlag, and the third forthcoming by the same press in April 2013. In 2011 she was a resident at the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa. She is currently finishing her next novel, which will be published in 2013. Cristoff lives in Buenos Aires.
