Peter Bush is an award-winning literary translator who was born in Spalding, Lincolnshire, UK. His recent translations from Catalan include Josep Pla’s Life Embitters (Archipelago), short stories based on his experience as a journalist in Europe in the 1920s, and Emili Teixidor’s Black Bread (Biblioasis), a novel about young people struggling to survive in a rural Catalonia occupied by the Civil Guard and the Falange. The autumn will see the publication of his translations of Prudenci Bertrana’s Josafat (Francis Boutle Books) and Joan Sales’ Winds of the Night (MacLehose Press). He is currently working on Aigua de mar (Archipelago), a book of sea stories by Pla and Barcelona Tales (OUP), a selection of stories set in the city from Cervantes to Montserrat Roig.
