Prabda Yoon gained prominence as the writer who popularized postmodern narrative techniques in contemporary Thai literature. He is the author of multiple short-story collections, novels, and screenplays and has translated The Catcher in the Rye, A Clockwork Orange, and Lolita into Thai. His short-story collection Kwam Na Ja Pen, from which this story was taken, won the S.E.A. Write Award in 2002. He recently wrote and directed his first film, “Motel Mist,” which was screened at the International Film Festival Rotterdam earlier this year. Tilted Axis Press is publishing the first book-length English translation of his work, a story collection which won a PEN Translates award, in 2017. Author photo: Pat Phetthong.
