Another Word for Murder

It’s hot. It’s humid. We’re sticky. It’s Friday and already this week we’ve watched the New York City Transit system crumble in the wake of a tornado in Brooklyn(?!) It’s definitely August–and time to get away. But what to read?

Springfield Massachusetts, it turns out, has the answer. Courtesy of an anonymous librarian at the Springfield City Library, we present a list of Foreign Crime Fiction in Translation for your beach reading pleasure. This list is a year old, but it’s got lots of goodies from the increasingly well known Henning Mankell to the less well-known but much loved Massimo Carlotto.

Springfield librarians–we salute you. Everyone else, grab a mystery and let’s get the heck out of Dodge.
