Alberto Luna, S. J., was born in Caazapá, Paraguay, in 1960. He studied philosophy at the Instituto Superior de Teología de Asunción and theology at the Centro de Estudios Superiores de los Jesuitas in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. In 1990, he was ordained as a priest in San Ignacio, Misiones. In 1996, he earned a BA in Media and Communication Studies from the Catholic University. Since 2011, he has been the provincial superior of the Society of Jesus and has worked as a pastor in various countries. In addition to serving as the vice director of Acción magazine and the director of Entreamigos magazine, he contributes to various publications and theater productions. He has published several bilingual (Spanish and Guaraní) poetry collections, including Veredas (1992), Siempre es ahora (1997), and Pypore (2008). He also works to promote the Misa guaraní (2003), a collection of songs for eucharistic celebrations in Guaraní, by sharing recitations of the gospel daily.

Susan Smith Nash has been involved in translation, critical analysis, and promotion of Latin American poetry and poetics for more than twenty-five years. She regularly writes on Latin American poetry for World Literature Today, and has been involved in translations and anthologies including the Anthology of Paraguayan Women Writers (Texture Press, 2001). More recently, she has focused on translating the work of individual authors. Nash earned her BS in Geology and her MA and PhD in English from the University of Oklahoma.

Susy Delgado is a bilingual writer, journalist, and cultural promotor born in San Lorenzo, Paraguay, in 1949. She has published thirty books—including poetry collections, short story collections, and children’s books—translated into English, Portuguese, German, Galician, and French. Her poetry collections in Guaraní are Tataypýpe (Junto al fuego), Ayvu membyre (Hijo de aquel verbo), Jevy ko’ë (Día del regreso), Tyre’ÿ rape (Camino del huérfano), Ogue jave takuapu (Cuando se apaga el takua), Yvytu yma, and Ka’aru purahéi. She has also edited several anthologies of Paraguayan literature. Delgado's work as a cultural journalist is extensive, and she is the founder and director of Takuapu magazine, as well as a member of the Academy of the Guaraní Language and the vice president of the Society of Writers of Paraguay. Currently, she is a language advisor to the Paraguayan Secretariat of Culture. Her honors include the 1992 Indigenous Literatures Prize of Casa de las Américas, Cuba; the 2005 Cide Hamete Benengeli prize of the University of Tolouse Le Mirail and International Radio France; the Second Municipal Literature prize in 2006 and 2016; and Paraguay's National Literature Prize in 2017.
