Mourad Kadiri was born in Sale, Morocco, in 1965. A poet who writes in Moroccan Arabic, he is a member of Morocco's Writers' Union and a member of the executive committee of the House of Poetry in Morocco. He has published four collections of poems: Letters of the Palm (1995); Spinning Girl (2005); Bird of God (2007); and Tramway (2015). His poetry has been translated into several languages, including French, English, and Spanish, and he has participated in many festivals in Morocco and abroad. He lives and works in Rabat.
Kristin Gee Hickman is a PhD candidate in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on language politics and the place of colloquial Arabic in contemporary Morocco.
