Myo Myint Swe (1933–90) was born in Magyidaw, Shwebo District, Burma. A multitalented and prolific writer and artist, he authored more than five hundred poems, including several volumes of poems for children. He also wrote or co-wrote over 250 songs and produced over 750 paintings. In 1967, he was awarded a Burmese National Literary Prize for Poetry.
Lyn Swe Aye, M.D., was born in Burma (Myanmar ) and currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. His translations of Burmese poems have appeared in several anthologies, including Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky and Maggie Dietz’s Americans’ Favorite Poems and A World of Poetry (The American Poetry and Literary Project- 2002 Winter Olympics) . His works have been published in Burma, the UK, and the USA, and he has appeared on PBS and NPR. Formerly he served for over twenty-two years at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, California, and also as Clinical Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at Stanford.
