Andrzej Stasiuk

Andrzej Stasiuk (born 1960) writes fiction, poetry, and occasional literary criticism, and is co-owner of a small but lively publishing firm called Czarne. His most recent publications in English translation are both lyrical descriptions of his travels at the heart of Central Europe: On the road to Babadag, trans. Michael Kandel (Harcourt/Harvill Secker, 2011), and Dukla, trans. Bill Johnston (Dalkey Archive, 2011), in which he describes life in the towns and villages of the Beskid mountains.
