Anna Milsom

Anna Milsom translates Spanish and Latin American fiction and is a lecturer in Spanish and Translation Studies at the University of Birmingham, UK. Originally trained as a fine artist, Anna’s doctoral thesis involved producing a multimodal, digital (re)presentation of folktales by Cuban ethnographer Lydia Cabrera....

In 2017, Anna cocurated TransARTation! and produced Inverted (& Translated), an art/translation collaboration with Verónica Gerber Bicecci for the exhibition. Anna has cotranslated Evelio Rosero and Enrique Vila-Matas, and the translation of Rosero's Feast of the Innocents was longlisted for the 2017 International DUBLIN Literary Award. From 2013–16, Anna Milsom lived and worked in Ecuador, and her most recent translation is a short story by Ecuadorian author Mónica Ojeda, published in the Hay Festival anthology, Bogotá39. Anna now lives in Wales and is a member of the Translators Association of the Society of Authors and Wales PEN Cymru.
