Conceição Lima was born in Santana on the island of São Tomé in 1961. She studied journalism in Portugal and worked in radio, television, and the press in São Tomé. In 1993 she founded the independent weekly O Pais Hoje. She lives in London and works as a journalist and producer of Portuguese language materials for the BBC. She has published poems in periodicals, magazines and anthologies in several countries and is the author of the collections O Útero da Casa (Lisbon: Editorial Caminho, 2004) and A Dolorosa Raiz do Micondó (Lisbon: Editorial Caminho, 2006).
