Donald Rayfield

Patrick Donald Rayfield  (born 12 February 1942, Oxford) is an English academic and Emeritus Professor of Georgian and Russian at Queen Mary University of London. Since 1999, he has worked as a managing editor of Garnett Press (Queen Mary University of London). In 2003, he became an Officer of British Empire (OBE) and, in 2010, Order of Merit in Georgia. He is an author of several books about Georgian literature, including the History of Georgian Literature, Stalin and his Hangmen, and Georgia – On the Crossroads of Empires. He is also an author of number of translations of prose and poetry from Georgian and Russsian into English.
