Gerald Chapple


Gerald Chapple lives in Dundas, Ontario. He has translated Barbara Frischmuth, Josef Haslinger, and David Wagner for Malahat Review, Fiction, and Antioch Review, among others. Translations of Günter Kunert’s poems have appeared in over twenty-five journals, including Agni, Grand Street, Osiris, The Literary Review, Seneca Review, Southern Humanities Review, Vallum, and Atlanta Review. The pieces by Julie Zeh and Stefan Heym are his first translations of these writers. His English version of Frischmuth’s Chasing after the Wind: Four Stories (1996) received a Translation Award by the Austrian government. A volume of his Kunert translations, A Stranger at Home: Selected Poems 1977–2007, is in preparation.
