Jovanka Uljarević was born on January 13, 1979, in Kotor, Montenegro. She graduated in Philosophy. She writes poetry, short stories, and essays. She works in the commercial application of information technologies, but among her hobbies is pottery. She has published several collections of poems: Prije muva [Before the Flies, 2000], Maskenbal proteza [Masquerade Ball of Prostheses, 2003], U sandalama od smole [In Sandals Made of Pitch, 2007], and Stanovanje [Housing, 2009]. Her works have been translated into Slovenian, Macedonian, English, Italian, Polish, Albanian, German, and Russian and published in many literary journals, anthologies, and collections of works.
