Julio Durán was born in Iquitos, Peru. He studied translation in Lima and Barcelona. His novel Incendiar la ciudad (2001) has been praised by several critics in Peru. His stories have been included in the anthology El Cuento Peruano 2001-2010 (PetroPeru, 2013) and Selección Peruana (Estruendomudo, 2007). An excerpt of Incendiar la ciudad was published in A Public Space in 2007, translated by Daniel Alarcón.
