Leena Lander

Born in 1956, the Finnish author Leena Lander has published stories, plays, radio plays and eleven novels, three of which were finalists for the prestigious Finlandia Prize. Known for the painstaking research that precedes her writing, Lander creates round, unforgettable characters. Her strong interest in social issues-ecology, treatment of children, the tension between conscience, duty and authority--is evident throughout her work.
