Liza Bakewell

Liza Bakewell, PhD, is a writer and anthropologist. In 2011, she cofounded Maine Women Write, an organization that helps to promote Maine women authors, and in 2013 she became its executive director. She was a research associate at the Center for Latin American Studies in the Thomas J. Watson, Jr. Institute for International Studies at Brown University, and she directed the Mesolore Project. Her grants include Fulbright fellowships (1987, 1988), National Science Foundation grants (1988, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2004), and Ford Foundation grants (1996, 1998, 1999, 2000).
