M. Lynx Qualey

Marcia Lynx Qualey is an editor, writer, occasional translator, and speaker who focuses on Arabic literature and translation. She has a special love of Arabic literature for young readers. She founded ArabLit (which won a “Literary Translation Initiative” award at the 2017 London Book Fair) in 2009 and has since helped it become a small publishing cooperative....

She reviews for various magazines and newspapers and has translated a handful of novels, including the Palestine Book Award–winning Wondrous Journeys in Strange Lands, by Sonia Nimr, and Haya Saleh’s Wild Poppies, shortlisted for this year’s GLLI Award. She was shortlisted for the Banipal prize for the first two novels in Sonia’s Thunderbird trilogy. She is also a cofounder of the “WorldKidLit” initiative and cohosts the BULAQ podcast, which explores literature of the Maghreb and Mashreq. She is currently working on a collaboration with Majalla 28 in Gaza and demands an end to genocide.
