Maja Haderlap was born in Eisenkappel, Austria, and studied theatre and German at the University of Vienna. From 1992 to 2007 she was head of dramaturgy at the Municipal Theatre of Klagenfurt, and she continues to hold annual dramaturgy classes in Klagenfurt. Since 2008 she has lived and worked as a freelance author in Klagenfurt....

She has published volumes of poetry and essays in Slovenian and German, and translations from Slovenian. She is the author of Gedichte–Pesmi–Poems (1998); Bajalice (1987); Zalik pesmi (1983); Engel des Vergessens (2011); and Langer transit (2014).
