Maria Parr

Maria Parr (b. 1981) comes from Vanylven, in the Sunnmøre district of western Norway, where she still lives today. She made her debut as an author in 2005 with Vaffelhjarte (translated into English as Waffle Hearts, 2013; in North America, Adventures with Waffles, 2015)....

This was followed in 2009 by Tonje Glimmerdal (Astrid the Unstoppable, 2016), for which she received Norway’s prestigious Brage Prize, among other awards. For her 2017 book Keeperen og havet (Lena, the Sea and Me, 2020), she added a second Brage Prize. Her books have been translated into many languages, adapted for the stage, and made into a television series for children by NRK, the Norwegian public-service broadcaster. For the publisher SKALD, Parr has contributed tales to the anthologies Trøysteboka (The Book of Comforts) and Fantasiboka (The Fantasy Book).
