Perihan Magden was born in 1960. She graduated from the Psychology Department at Bogazici University. Her novella Haberci Cocuk Cinayetleri (Messenger Boy Murders) appeared in 1991; her novel Refakatci (The Escort) in 1994. She is a widely-read columnist for a leading Turkish daily. Her prose fiction often verges on black humor. Mutfak Kazalari (Kitchen Accidents, 1995) is her only poetry collection.
