Prasanta Mridha (b. Nov 20, 1971) grew up in Bagerhat, a town in southwestern Bangladesh famed for its fifteenth-century mosque architecture. Currently he teaches Bengali literature at a public college in the northeastern town of Sylhet. He has written novels, short stories, essays, and other forms of non-narrative prose. Author of over thirty books, Mridha has been awarded the Akhteruzzaman Elias Literature Award, the City Anondo Alo Award, and the HSBC Kali O Kalam Award, among others.
