Siham Bouhlal

Siham Bouhlal was born in Casablanca, Morocco, and now lives in Paris. She has a PhD in literature from the Université Paris-Sorbonne, and translates medieval Arabic texts into French....

She has three collections of poems (Poèmes bleus, Tarabuste, 2005; Songes d’une nuit Berbère ou la tombe d’épines, Al Manar, Paris, 2007; and Corps Lumière, Al Manar, 2008), all of which meditate on the nature of passion, death, and the body. Her book Princess Amazighe focuses on the veil and the status of women in Morocco. Her most recent work, the novel Et ton absence se fera chair, was published in 2015 by Éditions Yovana.
