Su Shi

's (1037-1101) favorite poet was the fourth-century poet Tao Yuanming. He writes, "Neither Cao Zhi, Liu Zhen, Bao Zhao, Xie Lingyun, Li Bai, or Du Fu achieves his stature. . . . This is not to say that I only like Tao for his poems. I deeply admire who he was as a human."
