Suneela Mubayi is a freshly-minted PhD in Arabic literature at NYU, where she completed a thesis on the intersection of classical and modern Arabic poetry. She has translated poems and short stories into and from Arabic, English, and Urdu, and has published her work in BanipalBeirut39Jadaliyya, and elsewhere. She wishes to reestablish the position of Arabic as a vehicular language of the global South, the role it played for many centuries.
