Thijs de Boer (b. 1981, the Netherlands) is a writer of short stories that have been published in various literary magazines. He won the short-story contest Duizend Woorden, and his debut, the disturbingly tense Vogels die vlees eten (Birds That Eat Meat, 2010), was nominated for the Selexyz Debut Prize....

Its dark stories tell of mainly young people who are addicts or who exhibit compulsive behaviour. One critic described his work as “meticulously argued madness.”
