Toni Pollard

Toni Pollard has been a teacher of Indonesian in Australia for over 45 years, both at the high school and university levels. A qualified translator of Indonesian to English since 1993 with considerable experience in translations across many fields, Toni has taken up literary translation since her retirement from the University of Western Sydney at the end of 2004. Her previous translations include three novels: Mirah of Banda by Hanna Rambe, Departures by Nh Dini, and Above the Day, Below the Night by Putu Oka Sukanta, as well as an anthology of stories by Gus tf Sakai, Night’s Disappearance. Since 2008, Toni has been a regular contributor of translations of stories by emerging writers for the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival’s bilingual publication.
