Wang Anyi

Wang Anyi (b. 1954) is among the most widely read and anthologized authors of the post-Mao era. A breaker of taboos, she is considered a spokesperson for China's younger generation. Her works are noted for their rich depiction of common people's lives. Her novel Baotown was translated into several languages, including English, and her novel Everlasting Regret was made into a film by the director Stanley Kwan.
