Zuska Kepplová

Zuzana Kepplová studied dramaturgy and screenplay writing at the Academy of Arts and Music in Bratislava, Slovakia, and earned a doctorate in gender studies from the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary. She worked as a postdoc lecturer at the department of social studies of Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic....

Currently, she is an opinion pages editor and a commentator at the daily newspaper SME in Bratislava, Slovakia, and a dramaturgist for the TV debate “Večera s Havranom” dealing with current social, political, and cultural issues. In 2005, she won the Poviedka short story competition. Her debut novel, Buchty švabachom (2011), received a number of prizes and was shortlisted for the prestigious Anasoft Litera prize. In 2013, 57 km od Taškentu followed, and a new novel, Reflux will be published in Fall 2015. She enjoys reading new Slovak prose and believes in writers’ ability to work in the terrain where no other discipline can reach.
