Monika Szydłowska

Monika Szydlowska was born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1983 and received an MA at the University of Fine Art in Poznan in 2011. Since 2013, she has lived in Edinburgh, where she conducts art workshops with disabled people. Her primary medium is painting. She started "Na Emigracji," a series of reflections on everyday life and adventures after moving to another country, in October 2013, and published a selection in her first book, Do You Miss Your Country.

Sean Gasper Bye is a translator of Polish literature. His translations of Watercolours by Lidia Ostałowska (Zubaan Books) and History of a Disappearance by Filip Springer (Restless Books) were published in 2017. His translations of fiction, reportage, and drama have appeared in Words Without BordersCatapultContinents, and elsewhere, and he is a winner of the 2016 Asymptote Close Approximations Prize. He studied modern languages at University College London and international studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies. Since 2014, he has been Literature and Humanities Curator at the Polish Cultural Institute New York.
